Back on my feet

Things I´ve done since these last seven (!) days

1. Struggled with the bureaucracy within the theatre where I am working (struggling is actually to mild a word...)

2. Held a workshop with my beautiful cast !

3.Had my hair braided - hence the pictures

4. Struggled with the bureaucracy within the theatre ... oh, that´s right I already mentioned that ;)

5. Was quite sick ( two days) most likely because of bad water...

6. Saw all of West Wing Season 4 (when I was sick) which I LOVE ! My favorite series right now are West Wing, In Treatment & John Adams. The latter two of course HBO productions ( I say of course because they tend to do really great shows like Mad Men - which I, sadly enough have only had the opportunity to see now & then)

7. Bought myself a gym card and went there at... 6 am. Incidentally, that was the day before I got.. sick

And after all paperwork now is signed, sealed & delivered I start my rehearsals on Monday! Very cool ! But we don´t have a lot of time... Not when you consider all the work that's to be done and dancing & singing. But now that I´m back on my feet, I say - bring it on!

Got to crash. Its 2.15 am and I just spent 6 hrs on rehearsal schedules & 2 hrs on mailing & blogging... And tomorrow I´m supposed to dare myself to drive in Accras chaotic traffic ( promised my dad) - I´m sooo grateful its Sunday tomorrow because that means less cars - hooray!

Also... I hope each and everyone of you are well. The news of the plight of the Haitians ( who already had more than enough of their share...) puts things in a sobering perspective, n´est pas ?

And WELCOME to those of you who recently become followers to Vintage Me ! Thank you ever so much !

Ps. Does anyone know how to post moving images, say from Face book or directly from my computer - I have a MacBook ? And thanks for your comments !

Roller coast...

Another "sleepy" picture...hm... I really must do better ! :)

Dear Vintage Friends, the days rush by and in roller coast fashion too... I love Ghana, yet I have occasion to work on my patience every single day... Still, the project is so amazing that I just have to persevere come what may !!!

The day before yesterday we had a seminar with an amazing woman from Action Aid ! If you want to support the truly great work they do for women and children in Ghana please go to their website. Every little dime they get they put into various projects aimed at empowering and bettering the lives of women!

Since I have yet to make my own award I am passing The Glamorous Blog Award on to :

The Freelancers Fashion Blog

Who´s owner is just a constant glamorous inspiration! As for the Chic award I´m passing it on to two very chic ladies. First the oh, so talented Frollein von Sofa and then the lovely Vintage Baroness herself !

Hawii with a twist !

Its been a few days since last I wrote. I have been totally busy at work. This Monday we finally began our journey. The image is from my first day ! Sorry for the "sleepy" look. :) Its just outside our ( luxurious) apartment.

The first two weeks of rehearsal is a workshop were we will be getting to know one another as well as working a lot physically. Today we had dancing, singing and drumming on the programme. And let me tell you... African dancing is hard work !! I will be sooooo fit come march ( but sooo sore tomorrow...)

I don´t know if I told you, but I have this intention of loosing a bit of weight ( 10kg actually) and I´ve put a fine prize at the end of the road to keep me going. If, no when I succeed I will buy myself a corset from "What Katie did"!

Also, thank you Jessica for your kind words, how nice to know that I have a blog friend who shares my love for LIW ! :)

And thank you so much Pink Champagne for another ( my second! ) blog award !!

I haven´t given away one yet, because I would like to make first. But how ? Does any one know Help ! :)

A new decade had begun!

Sorry for the delay... I´ve had a bit of a problem with the Internet in the house we´re staying in.

But first things first ; HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! May 2010 give us all we hope for and more !

I for one expect great things! Starting with my project here in Ghana "African Cinderella"! I see this journey as a possibility for me to connect more with the country and the people here. After all, I am 50% Ghanaian! ;) Today I even went looking for a house ( not that I have any money... )

I couldn´t help think about the last time it was a new decade that began with 10 - 1910. A decade that started of with so much promise, only to plunge into the first world war.... Or as it was also known as The Great War - the war to end all wars...

I´m a great lover of Laura Ingalls Wilders books ( you know, Little House on the Prairie - NOT the TV-series). And even now I still re-read them every now and then. In one of the books ( By The Shores of Silverlake ?) Pa and Laura are out on a walk to see the new rail road being laid. There´s a sense of adventure and optimism about the future and what it holds for the family and the country. Pa talks about how one day a machine will most likely do a mans work out in the field, but never in a million years had they been able to envision how we live, work and communicate today !

I remember when I was younger thinking about the millenium and how exciting it was that I would be a part of it, yet looking back that is now 10 years ago... Yes, time flies and never more so than when you´re having fun.

I started blogging this summer and its has indeed been so much fun, even though I can´t keep up with some of you ladies who some how manage to blog, work, clean and make great drinks too ( Yes, I´m talking to you TVK ;) I´m so looking forward to both reading and writing more blog material in 2010.

The picture is from New Years Eve ( a very low key event). Also, I got a blog award! My first! From Whimsical Debbie over at GirlWhimsey. Thanks so much ! Let me know how to pass it on Debbie!
