Beginnings

I have always loved the golden age of Hollywood. As a young girl I dreamed of, not only becoming a movie star, but looking like one too. In time I became an actress, but my passion then was for the stage, not the screen. Eventually, as I grew older, I ventured into directing and found I enjoyed helping my colleagues becoming their very best. And so, little by little, my childhood love of movie stars and black-and-white glamour faded from my busy mind. Till I saw this book by the gorgeous Ms. Dita von Teese !It was like I had opened a treasure trove ! Here was this unrepentant vintage fashionista ( who also happened to be a major burlesque star ) who fully lived my childhood dreams! I think it was then and there that I dared myself to once again immerse myself in all things vintage. I´m starting slow. First I need to loose some weight, partly because I can´t get into any of the many vintage dresses I covet... Then some longer nails ( thankfully my local health food store hooked me up with some amazing silicea tablets ) and then getting my hair in shape for some new adventures ! As I am black ( white mom, black dad ) it should also be a lot of fun to explore what vintage looks I can recreate with my hair, both in its naturally (curly) state, as well as when its roller set and blow dried. I have yet to find a blog by a black female with a passion for vintage - maybe I´m setting a precedent here ! :)
