But back to the last days I spent in Paris ! This tale of grandeur (and food - lot of it ! ;)
My view from the train ride into Paris. Can you spot The Eiffel tour ?
So, there I was in a city with a temperature of about 30-35 °. One might think that i would have better things to do than stand in line ... Not quite so fast mes amis ... Not if your standing in line for this ...

The Yves Saint Laurent exhibition!

The exhibition was at the Petite Palaise and if you have ANY possibility at all to visit Paris before the 29th of August this is A MUST ! For more information - look here.

Inside were women ( and a few men ) more than eager and ready to enter the world of YSL.

And what an absolutely marvelous display it was !!! Unfortunately no one was allowed to take any pictures inside...

This was the pretty lady taking pour tickets ! From this point on I just knew it was going to be a great exhibition. I was not disappointed. The clothes were u-n-b-e-l-i-v-a-b-l-e ! It was like looking at ... art !
Mlle Chanel gave women their freedom - YSL gave them power.
After seeing all the magnificent YSL creations I spent some time in the small, but excellent museum shop. I love shops inside museums, they usually have a great selection of noteworthy books.
Great for style tips.

First I went to Gucci.
I say, much addo about nothing...

Although the place reeked of money and the "well-to-do" which was fun ;) Then I strolled down the Avenue George V and went window shopping at ; Hermés, where the ever so talented Jean Paul Gaultier is in charge now. And by the way have you seen the dress he did for Dita for Cannes? Superb!

Image from here.
Then I continued my walk to Armani, Kenzo and Louis Vuitton. The crowd inside Vuitton was almost a bit... silly. If I had the money I would spend it on a vintage Louis Vuitton Steam trunk otherwise ... nah, not my thing. I wanted to take more pictures, but I ran out of battery. Which is why there are no images of a place worth seeing and then going to heaven ...

Finally after a long and fulfilled day, with aching feet and empty pockets I went home to surprise my aunties with the cakes.
Here is two of my aunties, who had just arrived for the wedding. Gerd (left) and Ullabritt (right).
When I was an aupair girl in the 1980s my memories of Paris are that of a rather snobbish city with cold people, even though I had a great time too. But this time around Paris was warm, friendly and definitly a place I want to visit again, soon!
More to come ; The wedding!
